Why do people think its okay for their dogs to sniff around the food in a farmers' market when they are not supposed to take them into the grocery store! And geez, I"m really glad you want to stand around and see someone throw a fish, but I'm trying to buy stuff for dinner here! Yep, guess I'm a little grouchy too.

Cute post and buttons. I've seen the word spelled differently in different places: some say locavore, and others say localvore. Which is it?!

I was just asking that same question on twitter this weekend. It looks to be a regional difference if you look at google returns.

Also according to google trends, locavore reigns supreme.

It's the lollygagging doublewide strollers that kill me. Man, there is no maneuvering around those things. And the coffee drinking social hour. I've come to not like so much the downtown Portland Saturday farmers market because it's just so cram packed, tensions get high, and I just want to get the hell out of there. Thank you for your venting. You are not alone. I just want my fresh produce people!!!

P.S. While I love my dog I do not make her endure that with me.

We're lucky that it is actually illegal (by city ordinance) to have dogs at our farmers market, and last weekend they actually had a sign up and are starting to enforce it (they didn't for years). Now to just make strollers, wagons and loitering coffee drinkers illegal too...

Oh wow! This is a great post. I am so tired of that kind of behavior...and the complete and total lack of awareness that the middle of a row isn't theirs alone to hold friend and family reunions. For me, it isn't the dogs as much as the groups of women friends all with strollers and toddler "hangers-on" who think that it's OK to amble along side by side talking instead of single file!

I love you!

Actually left a comment card at my local farmer's market last weekend, in fact expressing concern about all the dogs there. My ten year old (a dog lover) was initially mad at me when I explained what I was doing, but finally came around to my way of thinking: "It's not fair to the dogs..."

Coming out of lurkdom to say: Hell Yeah! I have stroller/dog farmers market rage. Also, if you brought the kid in a stroller, keep the kid in a stroller. They don't need to get out and PUSH the stroller. And they really don't need to push the stroller into me!
