I was just asking that same question on twitter this weekend. It looks to be a regional difference if you look at google returns.

Man, there is no maneuvering around those things. And the coffee drinking social hour. I've come to not like so much the downtown Portland Saturday farmers market because it's just so cram packed, tensions get high, and I just want to get the hell out of there. Thank you for your venting. You are not alone. I just want my fresh produce people!!! P.S. While I love my dog I do not make her endure that with me. Now to just make strollers, wagons and loitering coffee drinkers illegal too... This is a great post. I am so tired of that kind of behavior...and the complete and total lack of awareness that the middle of a row isn't theirs alone to hold friend and family reunions. For me, it isn't the dogs as much as the groups of women friends all with strollers and toddler "hangers-on" who think that it's OK to amble along side by side talking instead of single file! Oh wow!
