A moment of sink desperation brought this kitchen tip to my full attention.
The plastic caps found on most water bottles and soda bottles make great pot scrubbers. I use this blue mineral water cap to scrub my cast iron skillet. Press it right side up on your pan surface and use it to scrap up any stuck pot remainders.
The curve and the small size of the cap means it can hug the inner curves of my skillet perfectly.
Also, since I don’t use soap on my cast iron pots, this little scrubber doesn’t leave me wondering if I’ve left any bits on the pot for my next use.
As hard as I’ve been pressing, I’ve never noticed any plastic from the cap wearing off onto the pots. Maybe bringing my skillet into the lab to check under the microscope would tell otherwise.

Thanks for the tip!
I’ll have to add that to the AOL CDs I currently use.
