I was glad to go, but I am now glad to be back. I certainly didn't get island fever but I knew that life on the mainland hadn't stopped and we were falling behind on things.

Let us know if you try the shave ice with the beans at Matsumoto's. I didn't love it, though their shave ice with softserve ice cream rocks. The place has so many ordering rules it's like a Hawaiian Soup Nazi, but worth it. We got great poke at an Asian market-little mall sorta place with lots of small shops, near Waikiki.

Just had to say I discovered you through notmartha, I think, in my quest to perfect my marshmallow technique. Love your blog, and was delighted to note you're a fellow Eugenian.

<blockquote>
Thanks Sara. The Splendid Table Honolulu Special podcast gave me a heads up regarding Matsumoto's... I also had thoughts of Shave Ice Nazi float up :) What was the order again? State number of orders - number of sizes - varieties - and then flavors, whew!

We picked up some happy poke in China Town today- tako and maguro varieties. Plan on going back to try the crab poke and mussel poke.

Aloha!

McAuliflower</blockquote>
