Okay, so maybe I was projecting a little bit. I really did read "bagel" not "muffin". The semi-raw bagel I had there a couple of years ago was what sent me over the edge into ridiculous ranting, so I assumed this was the same issue. Muffins... well, I dunno. I guess my expectations are a lot lower.

And I'll revise my equation: pumpkin + non-pie baked goods = bad news.

That makes me sad. I was a kid in Eugene in the 70\'s and 80\'s and if you\'re talkin\' bout who I think you\'re talkin\' \'bout - do they still make some fairly bitchin\' rugelach? I always liked theirs. They also used to do a GREAT hot pastrami sandwich on a bagel for $1 when I was in Jr. High (across the street) - circa 1984. It was excellent. (Are we talking about the same joint?)

Those were the first bagels I ever ate in my life - so I always thought they were just fine. It wasn\'t until I went to NY (and even LA) that I realized they weren\'t much to write home about. But still, not HORRIBLE. What\'s going on?

	<ul>
<li><em>yes- same place. It\'s pretty unfortunate. We had said muffin off the premises- so weren\'t able to march it back to them. I\'m thinking of mentioning the raw muffin to them in a letter... I have a feeling if I mention it to counter folk, it won\'t get back to the correct people.

That place needs to close its doors, or at least stop claiming to make bagels. Their quality control has gone steadily downhill for 15 years now. Occasionally they still make something delicious, but only by accident.

Sorry, I get a little worked up about this one -- it's a major nostalgia issue for me. I promise, back in the 80s, they made the best bagels on the planet. For real.

Also: pumpkin in a bagel = bad news. Don't do it, kids.
