I stumbled across your blog while I was doing some online research. As someone who had the privilege of living in Japan for a number of years prior to returning to the United States, I found myself growing so nostalgic for the foods and drink I miss now that I'm back in America!

Go to supermarkets just before closing and get the packaged fresh fruits and vegetables half price. Go to Beppo for a mud bath. Also see Hemeji, a Castle town, near Tokyo. Take the Bullet Train and bring your own plastic cup with a lid, instant coffee and sweetened creamer that comes in something like a toothpaste tube. Pack your own lunch, everything on a train is $$$$$. Lots of deer roaming around in Kyoto at their park. I spent 7 weeks traveling from one Youth Hostel to another. I met the greatest people and spent next to nothing.

Great advice Linda- thanks. Also noted that they mark down the sushi at this time too.

Oh my gosh - major homesickness for a non-home place. I can't wait to go back to Japan.

Be sure to stock up - surely you can schlep an extra suitcase home...

That parfait looks absolutely delicious! Too bad you can\'t bring those home in your suitcase.

Totally!
So far I\'m planning on bringing back a couple chu-hi, some sesame toast paste, and maybe some rice seasoning packets. The amount of frozen treats here is boggling!
