Hot Apple Pie Shots: SHF17

Hot Apple Pie ShotApple pie is one of those desserts I eat for the ice cream. Fortunately for me, this month’s Sugar High Friday theme of dairy lets me wallow in that desire.

I happen to be home sick and need something that can shoot through my stuffiness. I think my whipped cream dispenser and Sweet’s jug of apple cider can help me with that…

Hot Apple Pie Shots

Hot Apple Pie Shot

In a pyrex measuring cup pour 3/4 cup of apple cider. Heat in the microwave till nice and steamy hot. Stir in 1/4 tsp of vanilla extract, one pinch of cinnamon, and 1/4 cup of rum.

Pour into a shot class 3/4 of the way full. Top with sweetened whipped cream and dust with cinnamon.

Serve immediately.

Makes 5-6 shots.

yum. I was planning on making them last year for Thanksgiving (I’m away from home for all holidays due to school….so my Thanksgivings are me and my pooch)….but I never made them because I wasn’t sure if they’d be any good. Seeing that picture mmm….makes me want to have Thanksgiving in March. hehehe

Reminds me a bit of a simplified wassail. Very nice for lazy winter nights.

Lovely! I would like to “wallow” in this dessert as well … I think apple and ice cream is one of my very favourite flavour combinations!

Well done!

My liqueur version of the apple pie shot was discovered at a bar somewhere in BC.
Take Sour apple schnapps, butterscotch schnapps, and finely ground cinnamon. Fill a shot glass about 3/4th full of the sour apple, top it off with the butterscotch, dust with cinnamon, and then toss it back. It is quite tasty, though I think I shall try your version soon.

Ooo butterscotch! This sounds great. Thanks for sharing Auctoritas.
