My Portland Chocolate Hit List

golden hued chocolateI’m headed up to Mt. Hood for the weekend. My trip companions don’t quite realize it, but I’m going to have to take them hostage for a slight detour, as this trip has also become a mini-chocolate pilgrimage.

Being the receptor to some wonderful chocolate confessions has built up a head of chocolate steam that needs some sweet release.

- Pix Patisserie, has a blue cheese chocolate that was recently bought to my attention in a story of quiet chocolate awe: A Multilayered truffle with a soft chocolate center that echoed blue cheese. I don’t spy it on their chocolate menu… but I hope I can talk them into procuring this beauty!

- a gold dusted chocolate buddah or a virgin mary from Alma would be swell!
- eggbeater brought Sahagún Chocolates to my attention in one of her posts this summer. This chocolater has her own chocolate blog too. Its a great way to give little sweet updates on the shops creations.

Why is it that I have to live in such an uncultured part of California? I remember seeing the chocolate shops in Portland when I was up there last year, and I honestly don’t know of any within 70 miles of here. I’ve gotten to where I can’t stand Hersheys–too grainy. I’m envious of you. Enjoy!

If you haven’t seen my latest chocolates report, you should check it out before you head up.

Make sure you get hot chocolate at Sahagun.

  • that sound like my sort of chocolate listing!

Have a blast in Portland. I love Pix Patisserie. I had a blue cheese chocolate at the Fancy Food Show in January and I thought it was vile! Also in Portland Moonstruck makes some mighty fine chocolates. There are at least two Moonstruck cafes downtown to check out. Report back in any case.

I’m still kicking myself for not having tried out Pix Patisserie before I had to leave Portland. Ah well. Next trip down, I hope!
