Julie made a widely-publicized comment that most food blogs were boring and not worth her time...hellooooooo why would she say that? I don't really respect her anymore. :(

Not knowing the quote...

Well... Food blogs have had some interesting booms; maybe her comment came at a time when there was a particular lack of quality, or maybe her comment reflects the glut in the food blog market.

Also, we're in this food blog thing because we're all distinct and individual in our tastes. I don't expect to like all food blogs, as I'm a picky eater!

For me, I see personal (food) blogs as having two main flavors- those that are expert in a particular subject, and those that deal in the common everyday subjects. Sometimes one's blog may shift from specialized to everyday and vice versa. Ones that revel in the common everyday findings, or report what they ate everyday, can come across as monotonous. However, these blogs can also learn how to sing when they delve beneath the surface of their blogging act (I think MFK Fisher's writings fit like that). As a group, we bloggers are often very young in our "for public" writing skills, and fail to find gold in our entries. For me, that's ok because I'm learning, and my aims in my blog are not to appeal to the widest market possible.

To critically look at Julie's comment about most food blogs as boring shows a possible reflection of herself. She's staring at a world of many flavors and declaring that she only drinks Breakfast Tea, and everything else is boring? Maybe when she has more time on her hands will she discover more blogs that suit her!

I respect her because she had the nerve to state this opinion, one that could possibly strike through her core audience for her book. That takes balls.

I forgot about this book. Remember wanting to read when I first of it. I recently finished Eating Heaven so not sure if I am in the mood for another food book just yet. Love the cover.

I saw it for sale at B&N a few weeks back. I have to admit I must have looked like a nut when I saw it. I actually jumped and grinned and wowie zowie! - "Babe look! It's julie/julia!!!!" My husband thought I was crazy.

I felt that way when I went to Powells to look up a book link and found a brief interview with her on the front page. I was also responding with excitment at seeing the picture of Julie. I like to see my action heros!
