Speaking of McAuliflower and her addiction to really cool books...check out this wonderful packaging book she sent me.

I just have to say thank you again. I was so surprised! Everyone is getting Christmas presents in cool little boxes this year.

I'm glad you like it Jen- It's a fun little obsessive book for people who like paper and packaging!

I have to say that a lot of the jobs on that series don't strike me as particularly "dirty". I can inevitable think of worse things, so I'm not sure what their criteria is.

What are you thinking of Nic? What rating? :)

You do WHAT to fish? Now you have to tell us about that...

All in the name of science- I swear!

It's not that bad, as the fish I work with are the size of your thumb (Zebrafish, Danio rerio, which can be found in most pet stores). The short of it is, we find that it is often easier to grow large numbers of baby fish by "collecting" sperm and eggs from the fish separately and then combining them oursleves to produce fertile fish embryos.
Nothing at all like trying to collect sperm from a horse, which was also featured on the Dirty Jobs series.

Zebrafish produce eggs the size of flying fish roe found commonly at sushi bars on some of my favorite rolls (I like to call them Nature's Pop Rocks!). Unfortunatley I never have been able to handle seeing the buckets of eggs produced from Sturgeon or Beluga in caviar productions...eeeeeuugh.
