1000 Recipes

I’m excited to find out that I’m part of a list of recipients to participate in Book Eight of the 1000 Recipes project. This is a project that Santos has started up with a desire similar to that found in the 1000 Journals project. Several nice little Moleskin journals will be sent around the world for us lucky recipients to fill up. Check out the website to sign up to be on a book send out list.

corner of resin journalJournals are one of those things that push my desire button. A blank book, whose contents you dictate, is powerful stuff in your hands. This summer, in a gluttonous moment, I signed up for a week long Book Making for Artists class taught by one of U of O’s most entertaining professors. What a great excuse to indulge my paper fetish! Making books is such an intense activity- a combination of extreme technical precision with cat nip like yielding to material pleasures.

However, a book with out content, though full of potential, is a song that hasn’t yet been sung, a flavor yet to be savored… a book can transform itself into an event of potentiality that is dreadful, fierce, exhilerating, rapturous.

I look forward to scanning in my book entries. Now, on to that experiment in homemade scratch and sniff food stickers!
